Security should become a priority in public policy, emphasized the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a press conference in Kyiv on September 14.
The current situation in Ukraine has shown that security has become the key factor for passing the heating season, for education and other social processes, noted the Head of Government.
"Security will be number one priority in Ukraine," Denys Shmyhal stressed, adding that work is currently underway on the concept of a new public order security policy. As an example, the Prime Minister cited Israel, where all places of mass gathering of people, schools, hospitals, etc. are carefully guarded. By the way, the Head of the Government is convinced that in this regard it is possible to develop the veteran policy, employing veterans in the public security sector.
Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the standards for construction were already altering: "All residential and public buildings must have bomb shelters. This is a vital necessity. russia, as our neighbor, will not disappear and the feeling of insecurity posed by it will further accompany us."
According to the Prime Minister, further reform of the army is a key aspect. Yet now, the Ukrainian military is gradually switching to NATO standards. And they use not only weapons, but also modern military strategies.
"We are well aware that after the war, the army cannot operate using the Soviet standards. The army must become professional," the Prime Minister accentuated. In particular, according to him, it is more expedient to introduce courses for training in the handling of weapons, behavior on the battlefield, etc. and conduct them with a certain frequency.
The Prime Minister said that the veteran policy, which provides for rehabilitation, medical insurance, and job security, would be important in this context: "We are working to ensure that every veteran who returned from the war knows what is waiting for him."
The Head of Government noted that the state understands the importance of supporting veterans. That is why work is underway to ensure that veterans are provided with work, have the opportunity to train at the expense of the state in another specialty, and have access to preferential mortgages.
