Ukraine continues integration into the EU in all areas. Yesterday, Ukraine and the EU extended the 'transport visa-free regime'. This is an agreement on the liberalisation of freight transport, which eliminated the need to obtain permits for such transport. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed during a CMU session.
“We have agreed that the visa-free regime will be extended for a year, but with the possibility of automatic prolongation until the end of 2025. We will work further to ensure that both the transport visa-free regime and the trade visa-free regime operate on a permanent basis,” noted the Head of Government.
The Prime Minister reminded that this week, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had also signed a law on a single roaming area with the EU.
This is part of the roaming visa-free regime, allowing Ukrainians in the EU to use their mobile tariffs at no extra cost.
"Ukraine is the first and so far the only EU candidate country to join the EU Roam Like at Home policy," said Denys Shmyhal.
In addition, today the EU Council approved the framework for negotiations on Ukraine's accession. According to the Prime Minister, the EU-Ukraine Intergovernmental Conference will be held on 25 June, which marks the formal start of negotiations on our accession.
"Then we will enter into detailed technical negotiations on dozens of different chapters of the future agreement," the Head of Government noted.
He thanked the European partners for their support, boosting our economy and our state, and for the important steps taken to weaken the russian economy.
In particular, on 20 June, EU ambassadors agreed on the 14th package of sanctions against russia. As Denys Shmyhal noted, this would be the first such strike against the aggressor's gas industry. In addition, a number of ways to escape pre-existing sanctions are being shut down.
