Some UAH 3 billion allotted for educational spaces in schools: Government's decision
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has endorsed the procedure and conditions for providing subsidies for upgrading educational spaces in schools as part of the New Ukrainian School reform. The total funding amounts to UAH 3 billion.
Where are the funds going in 2026:
UAH 1.3 billion — to gymnasiums
The funding is being directed toward the creation of modern educational spaces in institutions that do not provide specialized secondary education starting in the 2027/2028 academic year. The financing allows for the purchase of educational equipment, computer and multimedia technology, furniture for physics, chemistry, and biology classrooms, STEM laboratories, and arts education spaces.
UAH 1.2 billion — pilot lyceums for senior specialized school reform
The funds shall be allocated primarily to equipping laboratories in the natural sciences — physics, chemistry, biology, as well as STEM laboratories. The goal is to ensure a high-quality educational process in pilot lyceums and create conditions for the full introduction of specialized senior schools.
Important: for pilot lyceums operating remotely, particularly in frontline regions, it is possible to purchase tablets, laptops, chromebooks, graphics tablets, licensed software, electronic resources, and e-literature.
UAH 500 million — “Defense of Ukraine” hubs
Funding is provided for the establishment of hubs in schools and inter-school resource centers.
Communities can use the subsidy funds to purchase:
- furniture;
- educational and laboratory equipment;
- computer and multimedia equipment.
Mandatory conditions for receiving the subsidy:
- subsidy is provided on the condition of co-financing from local budgets;
- founders must ensure the ongoing or capital repairs of the premises where the equipment will be installed;
- purchases are made in compliance with the requirements of the Ukraine Facility, the principles of transparency, and public accountability.
In 2026, the state plans to transition from selective retrofitting to the comprehensive creation of educational spaces, which involves the simultaneous renovation of equipment, furniture, and the premises. This approach ensures that public investment actually contributes to the quality of education, access to education, and the sustainability of the education system in wartime conditions.
