Volodymyr Kistion: The situation concerning wage arrears for miners in unacceptable for the Government
The situation with
salary arrears for mine workers
is untenable for the Government.
The Ministry of Energy and
Coal Industry of Ukraine, the
Ministry of Finance of Ukraine
and the Antimonopoly
Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) must immediately resolve the situation. This was stated
by Vice Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion.
The line Vice
Prime Minister initiated a meeting with coal trade
unions, in particular, with the Head of
Trade Union of Coal Industry
Workers Viktor Turmanov and the
Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of
Coal Miners of Ukraine Mykhailo
Volynets. The issues pertaining to reforming the
coal industry, preparations for the meeting of
the Interagency Working Group on
resolving crisis situations in the
coal industry and the issue
of paying wages to miners
were tackled.
"The budget
for 2018 provides 1.3 billion hryvnias of fundin for the
wage fund of miners who
work at state
coal mines. Therefore, the situation with salary debts for
miners is unacceptable for the Government", Volodymyr Kystion claimed.
According to Volodymyr
Kistion, the said issue has
been raised at the session
of the Governmental
Committee on economic, financial and legal policy,
development of fuel and energy
complex, infrastructure, defense and law
enforcement activity. The AMCU, which is obliged
to inform the Cabinet of
Ministers concerning the issue that
payment of wages to miners
is correlated with the new
bill on state
support, is engaged in the
settlement of the abovementioned issue.
