Volodymyr Kistion: A new methodology for calculating port dues rates is to be approved by late April 2018
The reduction of
port dues by 20% from January 1, 2018, has allowed Ukrainian ports to increase
cargo turnover by 11%. This is a good signal and an incentive to accelerate the
adoption of a new Methodology for Calculating Port Dues Rates - a document much
awaited for by both Ukrainian and foreign entrepreneurs. Vice Prime Minister of
Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion
announced at a regular meeting dedicated to considering urgent issues in the
energy, infrastructure and environment sectors.
The development
and approval of Methodology and improving the Procedure for charging, accountability
and utilizing port dues falls within the competence of the Ministry of
Infrastructure of Ukraine. The document was submitted to the public discussion in
late December of 2017.
The Vice Prime
Minister stressed the Ministry of Infrastructure should speed up the adoption
of this Methodology, which had been under discussion for over a year. "A
new modern document is much awaited for by the business. I advise to accelerate
the negotiations with the Antimonopoly Committee and the State Regulatory
Service and adopt the Methodology by the end of April, 2018", underscored Volodymyr Kistion.
