Vice Prime Minister held a meeting with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Sue Saarnio
The Government of
Ukraine considers both European and
U.S. gas companies, which could manage
the Ukrainian gas transportation system, and will
be grateful for the U.S. assistance
in finding those applicants who can guarantee
Ukraine maximum loading of the
gas pipe. This was announced
by Vice Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion in the
course of the meeting with
Acting Assistant Secretary of State
for Energy Sue Saarnio.
According to him,
the Cabinet of Ministers is
currently monitoring potential international partners to control
the Ukrainian gas transportation system. "On the basis of
the said analysis the Government
will set out the conditions
under which the selection of
an international partner for the
joint management of the Ukrainian
GTS will be announced," Volodymyr Kistion stressed.
In turn, Acting
Assistant Secretary of State commended
significant progress in implementing energy reforms and stressed that
Ukraine is a reliable partner of the United
States in the field of
energy security.
The sides agreed
to cooperate also in the
implementation of the law on
the electricity market. "Energy reform is one
of the most
comprehensive reforms that are on
the Government’s agenda. Therefore, we will highly
appreciate the U.S. best practices in this
issue", underscored the Vice Prime
Minister.
