The Government plans to expand the list of diseases that will be covered by the Available Medicines programme starting from next year. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko on air of "Pryamiy" (Direct) TV channel.

"At present, more than a third of drugstores provide people with free medicines for three nosologies, namely cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and asthma. We kicked off the reimbursement program that at first included 150 types of medicines, and today it makes up already 200. I hope that next year we will start a system of reimbursement for new nosologies, for new types of diseases", the Vice Prime Minister noted.

Pavlo Rozenko reiterated that Available Medicines programme was launched on April 1, 2017. «We went along the path of the EU countries regarding the reimbursement system: when a person comes to pharmacy and can get free medicine at a substantially lower price, and the state covers a fixed amount for medical products. This program has been put into practice since April. Moreover, nobody believed us that it would work. At present, over 6 million people have already seized the opportunity of the said program», underscored the Vice Prime Minister.
