The Coordination Center for the introduction of a new electricity market was established in line with the decision of the Government. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion, who is responsible for energy issues in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, was appointed the head of the Coordination Committee.

The abovementioned Coordination Center is an advisory and consultative body under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which was established pursuant to the final provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the Electricity Market".

«The Law is to be put in force in two years. It should be noted that the time is actually very limited, given the amount of tasks that we have to do with the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NCSREPU), thus we intend to shortly hold the first meeting of the Coordination Center, to create working subgroups and to kick off work on the development of the necessary regulatory instruments», the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.

Apart from that, the head of the Coordination Center for  the introduction of a new electricity market called on the public and representatives of the legislative branch to engage in the elaboration of the essential subordinate acts in order to make landmark decisions.

«We stand ready to cooperate as well as to hear the proposals of the real sector of the economy, industry experts, our international partners in order to work out by mutual efforts solutions that will allow Ukraine to create a competitive electricity market», Volodymyr Kistion summed up.
