The Cabinet of
Ministers of Ukraine expects that tomorrow, July 13, the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine will consider in the first reading a package of government bills on the
pension reform and will adopt, as whole, amendments to the state budget
proposed by the Government, those stipulating for increased funding for the
most urgent social programs. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said
during the Government sitting.
He thanked
parliamentarians for including draft laws on the pension reform into the agenda
of the Parliament and added that the submitted decisions had been developed for
the benefit of citizens. "The reform will provide an opportunity to ensure
justice, to abolish the taxation of pensions, and hold indexation of pensions.
Superannuation allowance will be raised for 9 million retirees", the Head
of Government stressed and added that at the second stage of the reform, at the
beginning of next year, military compensation would be upgraded as well as
gradual transition to the development and introduction of an accumulative
pension system be ensured. "Therewith, total seniority remains unchanged -
60, as stipulated by law", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
Moreover, the
Prime Minister focused on amendments to the budget, as it concerns expanded
funding for benefit and subsidy programs, programs for medical rehabilitation
of Ukrainians abroad, enlargement of the nomenclature of the Available Medicine
state program and financing of the defense and security sector.
“We place our
hopes on tomorrow, the last plenary day of the summer. I think we would be able
to consolidate support of the Parliament, we would have luck to confine
considering of the pension reform to the first reading, and adopt changes to
the budget”, emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.
