Prime Minister about land reform: We want to support rural development and stand for banning foreigners and large holdings from buying farmland
A land reform offered by the Government encapsulates the establishment
of such a model of the market turnover of lands which will pursue interests of
small farming enterprises as well as will impose restrictions on purchasing
land resources by foreign citizens and large agricultural holdings. This was
stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air at the ICTV
channel.
«We need to
introduce a model of the turnover of lands in Ukraine which will be developed in the
interests of the citizens. The Government stands for a complete ban on purchasing
land by non-residents and large holdings. We are supporting the idea of the
land reform, which will be carried out in the interests of agricultural
communities», emphasized
the Head of Government.
He stressed that the Government is engaged in constant dialogue with the
farmers and is in line not only to "lift the moratorium on the sale of
land", but to propose a concrete solution that will allow to restore the
development of farming enterprises and to revive the rural areas.
Volodymyr Groysman put a special emphasis to the fact that a successful
land reform in synergy with the decentralization process will provide a
powerful impetus to the development of the village and to the agricultural
sector. The said instrument is a priority need for ordinary citizens, rather
than, for example, for international partners of Ukraine.
«The
question is about Ukraine, our economy and our standard of living. If we do not put
into practice a reform, we will not be able to ensure a decent quality of life.
We pledge readiness to bear responsibility. Ukrainians need these changes, not
the International Monetary Fund. We understand what to do and are committed to
assume responsibility for it»,
highlighted the Prime Minister.
