  • Prime Minister about civil service reform: Government seeks to upgrade the civil service system and sets up a task to eradicate institutional weakness

    Some of the key barriers to Ukraine's development are an institutional weakness of the state apparatus and the influence of the outdated system of public administration which is undergoing changes due to an initiated by the Government reform of the civil service. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in the course of the meeting with state secretaries and heads of the staff departments of ministries and central executive authorities. The meeting was held on the occasion of the Civil Servant Day which is celebrated on June 23.

    «One of the problems of the state is the institutional weakness. The reform of the public administration is aimed to attract new employees who are able to push ahead changes and reforms through their knowledge and education. We need landmark decisions as well as professional teams», stressed the Head of Government.

    Volodymyr Groysman reiterated that the Government intends to encourage a thousand new employess to join civil service in order to continue the process of the country’s transformation.

    «In autumn, we are committed to attract new employees through transparent contests who can be change agents within the system. The system is resisting those continued attempts designed to change and we intend to update it in the course of day-to-day activities. The Government team needs highly skilled and efficient personnel who are capable of making these changes. These are not great words, It's a daily job», emphasized the Prime Minister and thanked members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as well as international partners for the support and joint implementation of transformations in the field of public administration.
