On the International Day for the Rights of the Disabled People, the
Ministry of Regional Development, Building, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine
urges all executive authorities, ministries as well as regional state
administrations (RSAs) to join the initiative offered by the Ministry - ChallengeWithoutBarriers thereby creating environment to
ensure barrier-free access for people with disabilities to state authorities
buildings.
«To remove the barriers in the minds of people! To cross barriers
in the public consciousness! Blocks in the legislation, building and
architecture! To introduce equal opportunities for people with disabilities! To
start from the self — from the authorities! The Ministry has already created
comfortable conditions to ensure unhindered access for people with
disabilities. Marking the International Day for the Rights of the Disabled
People we call on all ministries and authorities to support our initiative”,
emphasized Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Building,
Housing and Communal Service of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.
«Available public institutions is a commitment
of the country as a normal European state. And it is one of the key priorities
of the Ministry of Regional Development, Building, Housing and Communal
Service. Through this example we want to create conditions of accessibility for
persons with disabilities to state authorities
buildings, objects, hence we pass the unique challenge #challengewithoutbarriers
to public organizations. Let's make Ukraine tolerant, not just in words!», in
turn urged Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Building, Housing and
Communal Service responsible for building Lev Partskhaladze.
Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine
as well as RSAs are offered to be the pioneers in
participation of the aforesaid challenge. There
is a video showing detailed development of the barrier-free access in the Ministry
of Regional Development, Building, Housing and Communal Service. Thus, the
premises of the Ministry are adapted for people with disabilities, as well as
the restrooms, the tactile boards are established, there are tactile tiles for
people with visual impairment from the transport stop to the entrance.
