Volodymyr Kistion called on MPs to adopt a draft law On the Electricity Market next week
The bill On the Electricity Market is extremely
important to ensure import of anthracite coal for the Ukrainian thermal power
plants (TPPs), stressed Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion during the
meeting dedicated to problematic issues in the united energy system of Ukraine.
"It is of utmost importance for us to ensure the
possibility of purchasing of anthracite coal abroad to accumulate strategic
reserves in particular for the next autumn-winter heating period. I urge MPs at
the nearest plenary session to support in the second reading a draft law On the
Electricity Market. It is vitally important for our energy system”, accentuated
the Vice Prime Minister.
Volodymyr Kistion appealed
as well to the leadership of the generating companies to continue holding
negotiations with potential importers of coal from other countries.
Moreover, one of the essential objectives for
generating companies and SE NPC “Ukrenergo” is to cut consumption of anthracite
coal from strategic reserves of TPPs.
“It is necessary for us to reduce the combustion of
anthracite coal by thermal power plants to the extent possible. A complete
stoppage of TPPs is not correct according to technological processes. It is
indispensable to minimize the combustion of Grade A coal”, summed the Vice
Prime Minister”.
