Volodymyr Kistion: Government aims to support the market participants in the implementation of key provisions of the Concept of development of gas industry of Ukraine up to 2020

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is committed to create favourable environment to ensure the implementation of the key provisions contained in the Concept of development of gas production industry of Ukraine up to 2020.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion announced at the opening of the Second Ukrainian Gas Investment Forum '17.

"The Government is eager to provide comprehensive support to the market participants for the implementation of core objectives of the Concept of development of gas industry of Ukraine until 2020, as well as to improve investment conditions," said Volodymyr Kistion.

He reminded that the Concept had been adopted by the Government in December of last year, and the essential target stipulated in this document was growing domestic production of natural gas up to 27 billion cubic meters.

"A key goal included in the Concept is to reduce Ukraine's dependence on gas imports and to enhance energy security of the state. A target until 2020 is to increase extraction of Ukrainian gas up to 27 billion cubic meters", noted the Vice Prime Minister.

Volodymyr Kistion accentuated that to realize the set goal is required the cooperation of all stakeholders.

"It is crucial to ensure synergy among officials, MPs, representatives of the gas extracting companies and gas industry associations in execution of the Concept of development of gas production", said Volodymyr Kistion, adding the Government, for its part, will support introduction of legislative changes necessary to increase domestic gas production.
