Today,
December 27, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko together with Kyiv mayor Vitalii
Klytschko opened a new modern Center of social
rehabilitation for disabled children.
In
the Center children from birth up to 18 years will undergo social
rehabilitation. It is planned that simultaneously about 70 children a day will
have a chance to undergo rehabilitation procedures.
"Ukraine
is moving towards European standards, including in the provision of social
support for children with disabilities. The opening of this ultramodern Center
of social rehabilitation is one of the steps on this way. We are gradually
transferring from residential care facilities for children with disabilities to
inclusive upbringing and inclusive education. This Center offers all conditions
for development of children with disabilities necessary to prepare them to get
basic, general, secondary education and to ensure all the conditions for the
adaptation of children to a normal life", said Pavlo
Rozenko at the opening of the Center.
"It
is very important that Kyiv municipal administration in a difficult situation in
which significant funds are being spent on repair of roads, infrastructure
development, builds and puts into operation new social institutions. And this
should be an example for everyone," he said.
According
to Pavlo Rozenko, every
head of regional, municipal, district administration should spare no effort to improve
availability of local infrastructure for people with disabilities. The Vice
Prime Minister added that no infrastructure object should be put in
exploitation unless access for people with disabilities is ensured and this
issue is within responsibility of local authorities.
