On December
26, 2016 Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Eliav
Belotsercovsky was invited to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Ukraine to discuss further development of bilateral relations amid
the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2334 on the situation in the
Middle East.
The Ukrainian Side expressed its
disappointment over emotions of some Israeli officials and politicians
concerning the results of the voting in New York. The Ambassador received a clarification
on the reasons that determined position of the delegation of Ukraine to the UN
in support of the abovementioned draft. It was emphasized that Ukraine adhered
to the consistent position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which had been
more than once declared across different platforms
As a result of the meeting, it was
agreed to do the utmost to prevent the growing tenseness of discussions in
Ukrainian and Israeli societies. Assuming common interest in development of
that progress in bilateral relations, that has been achieved in recent years
Ukraine and Israel will focus the efforts on preparing a number of important
bilateral events: holding the next round of negotiations in Kyiv on Free trade
Agreement, preparation for signing of the Implementation Protocol to the
recently ratified by both sides Agreement, which regulates the labour migration and continuation of the negotiations on
further liberalization of air transportation.
It was also agreed to coordinate a
schedule of top level bilateral contacts for 2017.
