While on a working visit to Brussels, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze met with the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides.

The Vice Prime Minister briefed on the humanitarian situation in the east of Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the EU assistance worth EUR 283 million granted to Ukraine to support the humanitarian needs, in particular, to restore infrastructure and implement measures of social nature for displaced persons.

The parties discussed directions of activities to ensure rights of IDPs and agreed on the need to deepen cooperation in civil protection, as well as prevention and liquidation of consequences of emergency situations. Moreover, the Ukrainian side expressed interest in signing a new enhanced agreement on cooperation to meet the needs of rapid response to humanitarian crises. Such crises might occur in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions situated in the vicinity of the demarcation line. The sides made arrangements to launch formal consultations on this issue.
