Volodymyr Groysman: Upgrading vocational education will give impetus to the development of the country's economy

Among Government’s plans for next year is changing the system of vocational education, thereby improving the quality of training specialists and giving a boost to the economy. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with journalists in Kherson State Maritime Academy.

"It is very important to change the quality of the education system, especially vocational education. Highly qualified personnel that the country's economy needs must receive high level training. But for this purpose it is crucial to upgrade training programmes and equipment for training young people who will go to work in the real sector of economy", said Volodymyr Groysman.

According to him, training facilities and technologies of domestic vocational education have become obsolete.

"It means a lot for us to revive education in the next year, to conduct technical modernization of universities, to ensure that everyone who came to study get knowledge, necessary skills, find work and create economic growth," he said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that it is vital to restore economic growth of the country, while everything obtained from this growth - to invest in the quality of life and creating comfortable environment for people.

In order to achieve economic growth, we need up-to-date knowledge, which will allow Ukraine to be competitive, said Volodymyr Groysman.

Ukraine must become a strong producer in many sectors, in which we possess the potential, namely in agriculture, IT, pharmaceutical industry, light industry, machine-building, stop being mere supplier of raw materials for the economies of other countries.

"Our challenge is to get the country out of recurring problems and at last to bring it to the right path of development", stressed the Head of Government.

"The key role in our country should be played by the youth – the educated youth with a lot of drive and ability to be successful," he summed up.
