In Ukraine it is planned to produce
gas amount by 50 million cubic meters more until the end of year, by 500
million cubic meters the following year, and by 2020 - to achieve complete energy independence. Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said while visiting Kherson State
Maritime Academy and communicating with cadets and faculty members.
"For the half of year we will have produced by 50 million cubic metres of gas more. Next year we will extract over 500 million cubic meters of gas in Ukraine. In 5 years up to 2020, we can boost gas production up to 7 billion cubic meters. It means that we will actually live on our own gas production," announced Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of Government noted that a period of steady decline had been replaced by growing of the domestic gas extraction.
The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine must produce its own gas, and it requires investment. PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya has been working on it.
The development of gas production in Ukraine is completely in line with the Government's priorities to achieve energy independence, said Volodymyr Groysman.
"Ukraine has to become energy independent. Gas production is among
the Government’s priorities. In 3 to 5 years we will be able to enhance gas
production and cut consumption of gas. This will enable us to reach total
independence of imported gas," said the Prime Minister.
