Government began to restore order at customs
On Monday, Volodymyr Goysman has signed a resolution
on the establishment of 20 mobile groups to prevent and detect violations at the
customs. The
structure of the mobile groups will include representatives of the State Fiscal
Service, the State Border Guard Service and the National Police. The
coordination of their work is assigned to the Inter-ministerial task center,
which will work under the SFS. Mobile
groups will get an easy access to all customs control areas and transport border
crossing points, including airports and ports. In
addition, all the work of these groups will be completely video and photo recorded
in order to avoid abuse.
The resolution stipulates
logistical support of the Inter-ministerial task center and mobile units, which
will ensure proper efficiency of the groups and reduce the risk of corrupt
influences. The
activity of the groups will be financed through the reallocation of the budgetary
funds for maintenance of the State Fiscal Service.
By a separate resolution, also signed on Monday, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for photo and video fixation of customs formalities carried out by supervisory authorities. Mandatory video recording is one more way to prevent smuggling and abuse by controlling bodies at the customs.
