The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine is preparing an appeal to international NGO "Reporters without borders" on the protection of human rights, which is the guardian of freedom of expression around the world, with the request to give a legal assessment and to draw conclusions about blocking in Russia of the "Krym. Realii" project website, which is a branch of the Ukrainian division of "Radio Svoboda".

Note that the blocking was noted by the protege of the Kremlin in the position of the Prosecutor of the occupied Crimea Natalia Polonskaya, reports "Ukrainska pravda" with reference to "TASS".

Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets said that "Krym. Realii" is one of the largest publication on the subject of the Crimea, and is the main source of information for Ukrainians living on the peninsula and in Russia.

"Today, violation of the freedom of speech again was made by Russia. "Krym. Realii" is one of the most powerful and popular publications in the Crimea, which has a fairly wide audience. It is particularly important that the publication is popular in Russia. Recently we have observed that all sources of information that tell the truth about Crimea, become the target of blockades and harassment. Despite all of this, we, represented by the state, will fully support the publication", said Yurii Stets.

MIP has also appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine with a request to give a legal assessment of these actions on the part of the Russian Federation and to attach to the case materials about the crimes of the occupation authorities.

First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova said: "Russia on all possible platforms, including international ones, works out its own "pictures" of the Crimea. Of course, independent media stand in the way of it. "Krym. Realii" is a publication which produces high-quality content, and therefore has a lot of readers. It is important that most of them are Russian readers. The blocking of the website is a recognition of a the threat because all of the information space in the Russian Federation is subordinated to the regime".

Note that the "Krym. Realii" project has started its activity after the occupation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014 as an alternative to media covering the Russian position on Crimea.
