Arseniy Yatsenyuk to police officers in Kharkiv: Kharkovites need you, our state needs you

On Tuesday, February 23, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk took part in a ceremony of launching of the rapid response service of the Patrol Police in Kharkiv.

The Head of Government noted that Kharkiv is the third area, in which rapid response brigades of the police start operation. Such groups already work in Kyiv region and Lviv.

The timeframe for such rapid response teams to arrive to a call of residents of Kharkiv shall be 7 minutes, whilst across the region and to rural areas - 20 minutes.

He expressed gratitude to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski, who were taking part in the ceremony: "We have both the political will of the Minister and the Ministry [of Internal Affairs – ed.], and funding and technical assistance from the European Union to facilitate the Ukrainian police performing their function".

The Prime Minister also informed that a new electronic system of criminal analysis data for the National Police of Kharkiv would be presented, which was created with the help of volunteers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and with the support of the European partners. "It's a different system. The system, in which there is a strong police officer, having new equipment, supported with information technology and who should be protected by the entire law enforcement and judicial system of the country, if he honestly and fairly performs his duties to the country."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the patrol police officers of Kharkiv: "I wish you confidence. Just be sure: Ukraine needs you, Kharkovites need you, our State needs you".

For reference

From now on an area covered by permanent round-the-clock police patrol service is enlarged to the whole Kharkiv region. Simultaneously, the patrolling of areas of the region will be carried out by the 81 patrol police brigade. The newly created rapid response teams of the patrol police enumerate 648 officers.
