The new structure of local administrations must meet new economic, social and political realities, underlined Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a government meeting on Wednesday, 27 January.

During the meeting of the Government, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko presented a draft reform of local state administrations.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that amendments to the Constitution on decentralization would change the management system in the regions as a whole. The Prime Minister pointed out that at this stage we need from regional state administrations, district state administrations to act like authorities. Heads of state administrations should do their work in those regions where they were appointed.

Chiefs of regions and districts must work directly with the citizens of the country, because people’s attitude towards the authorities hinges on each head of administration, either of a district or region, the Prime Minister underlined.
