Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Ukraine expects about USD10 bln support from Western partners in 2016
"The total
amount of financial aid that we expect from our Western partners in 2016 will
make up approximately $10 billion," stated Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a press
conference on Tuesday, December 29.
The Prime
Minister underlined that after the signing and promulgation of the Law of
Ukraine on State Budget for 2016, the partners from the International Monetary
Fund and Western partners, "providing the unprecedented support for
Ukraine", would analyze this law in compliance with the agreements of the
memorandum with the International Monetary Fund: "Then we will hold talks
with both the IMF and Western partners on further financial support."
"Firstly - the signing of the law. Secondly
- technical analysis of the Law of Ukraine on State Budget. And thirdly
– technical mission and the conclusions of the International Monetary Fund.
Following
that, an appropriate decision will be taken regarding the continuation of the
program with the International Monetary Fund," he explained.
"The International
Monetary Fund Program is a program of very clear and step-by-step reforms in
the country. The IMF is
the main creditor of Ukraine. Moreover,
if there is no program with the IMF, that means that there is no (assistance) from
the World Bank or the European Investment Bank, or the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development, or macro-financial support of the European
Union, or $1 billion of guarantees from the United States Government," the
Prime Minister
pointed out.
"There is no
doubt that Ukraine will remain in the program with the International Monetary
Fund and we will continue to follow the path of reforms," Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted.
