Ukraine has a huge potential on the market of energy efficient heating of
residential and public sector and is interested in expanding enterprises that
will use all the modern scientific and technological achievements. Vice Prime
Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal
Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko
emphasised this on Thursday, October 22.
The Vice Prime Minister said that in 2016 it is planned to create a S2I
Fund designed to support energy efficiency projects. "The funding
mechanism of energy efficiency projects is being created. A concept and roadmap
is being developed with the participation of Germany and the EU. S2I Fund will
be an important tool for implementing energy efficiency improvement in Ukraine,"
he said.
Hennadii Zubko
has underlined that today the Government is actively working to create the
necessary legal framework for implementing energy efficiency projects – it has
been adopted laws on ESCO and Condominium Associations, it is expected to adopt
a range of bills, including the implementation of EU directives in this area.
According to the official, we have a unique situation today, when three
important factors came together.
"First, Ukraine really needs investments in energy efficiency.
Secondly, it is the desire of Ukraine to create the most
favorable investment conditions. Third, the willingness
of our partners to invest in the development of energy efficient
technologies," Hennadii Zubko
summed up.
