Local authorities will have an authority to determine tariffs for heat produced with use of alternative or renewable energy sources. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko, speaking about a draft law elaborated by the Ministry of Regional Development.

"From now on it is possible to provide heating not just to a separate building or institution using alternative energy sources, but to transfer boilers to use non-traditional or renewable sources of energy," the official explained.

"Real decentralization means the transfer of maximum power to the local authorities. This decision was taken long ago, the more so it is fixed in the Coalition agreement," said Hennadii Zubko.

According to the official, today the share of renewables in the overall energy balance of Ukraine makes up 3.45%. The program of reforms of the Government will allow increasing it up to 30% by 2030.

"Today we are to lay the basis for tomorrow's energy independence of Ukraine. With this purpose we are ready to overcome antagonism of those who stands against letting control over regulatory and budgetary "taps” to slide," added the Vice Prime Minister.

Hennadii Zubko informed the bill would soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
