Arseniy Yatsenyuk at Chatham House: Putin's fingerprints are on Minsk deal. He is obliged to fulfil it
"The game of Russia
is to blame Ukraine for the failure of the Minsk deal. But they have no single chance,"
stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Wednesday, July 15, in
his address to the Ukrainian Forum at the Royal Institute of international
Affairs Chatham House in the framework of his working visit to London.
"The
fingerprints of President Putin are on Minsk agreement, so he is obliged to fulfil
it," stressed Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Prime Minister highly
evaluated the efforts of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President
Francois Hollande that the Minsk agreements had been
concluded: "So, we need to act jointly and be united to ensure their implementation".
The Prime Minister stressed
that the goal of President Putin was “to restore something like the Soviet
Union”: "His goal is to destroy the Ukrainians as a nation and Ukraine as
a state".
"What is happening
in Ukraine isn’t just our concern. It is a global issue. Russia poses a threat
to global security and stability. A country being a permanent member of the UN
Security Council cannot act like this ", he accentuated.
"We need a firm single
policy against Russia. The only language Putin understands is the language of
force. So, let's be strong", summed up Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
