Arseniy Yatsenyuk: General Prosecutor and Ministry of Interior request the court to arrest 500 million cubic meters of gas possessed by Firtash-Lyovochkin companies
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has launched criminal proceedings into embezzlement of public property by former officials of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine in collusive agreement with the companies of Firtash-Lyovochkin "Ostchem" group, thus incurring losses to the country worth UAH 5.7 billion. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk told at the Government meeting on Wednesday, April 29.
According to the Prime Minister, the Prosecutor General Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine appealed to the court and request to arrest 500 million cubic meters of gas “in possession of the Firtash-Lyovochkin group in debt to the Ukrainian Government worth about UAH 4.3 billion".
"I believe the court will take a legitimate decision as soon as possible", he stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that it concerns "billions-hryvnias embezzlement by oligarchs in Firtash-Lyovochkin group, who were sitting like vampires on NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine throughout a decade". He appealed to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov to take the investigation under his personal control and “to take all possible measures to ensure arrest of property and return of funds to the State Budget of Ukraine". Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded such companies include Rivneazot, Azot, Stirol, Severodonetsk Association Azot and other companies to stop ripping out the state and to bring to justice those who for decades have caused losses of billions of hryvnyas to Ukrainian energy sector". Apart from that, Arseniy Yatsenyuk accentuated they had managed to get rid of intermediaries in the energy market and now direct contracts are in effect with the following companies: Statoil, Royal Dutch Shell, RWE, EON, Gaz de France: "Today we have no unauthorized dealers in the gas market". The Prime Minister noted that members of the energy panel at the International Support for Ukraine conference, which took place yesterday in Kyiv, "assessed both the transparency of the Ukrainian energy sector and the correct steps to ensure efficiency of reforms in the Ukrainian energy sector".
