Pavlo Rozenko met with Geoffrey R. Pyatt
Social Policy
Minister Pavlo Rozenko held
a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey R. Pyatt.
The Minister and
the Ambassador discussed a number of issues, including the problems of
internally displaced persons, social aspects of reform in the energy sector, deepening
cooperation in combating human trafficking and a need to ratify the Hague
Adoption Convention.
Geoffrey R. Pyatt has stressed that all these issues are a high
priority in discussions with the Government of the United States. "We
understand very well the burden that rests on your shoulders and on the
shoulders of the entire Ministry. Today, the Ministry of Social Policy is
perhaps the most important, because it is dealing with the problems of ordinary
people," the Ambassador noted.
Pavlo Rozenko, in turn, thanked for the assistance provided by
the U.S. Government for Ukraine, both in terms of economic development and in
terms of carrying out reform. "I hope that the next plenary week the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will
support a reform parcel proposed by the Government, including a bill on the
abolition of taxes on international aid," the Minister highlighted.
