PM and members of Government consulted with Coalition Council on the adoption by VR legislative amendments pursuant to agreements with IMF

On Monday, February 23, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine held a meeting with the Coalition Council and leaders of parliamentary factions on proposed by the Government amendments to the State Budget, Tax Code and other legislation developed in pursuance of the agreements between Ukraine and International Monetary Fund.

Following the talks with the IMF and within existing negative trends in the economy of Ukraine, the Finance Ministry has developed a parcel of laws on amendments to the 2015 State Budget, as well as changes to the tax, customs, pension legislation. This will reduce the deficit of the national energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy and the Pension Fund. After review and approval of these initiatives by the Government, they were submitted to the Parliament.

In the framework of the work on the proposed changes, the members of the Government led by the Prime Minister of Ukraine also held separate meetings with the members of the two factions within the coalition - "People’s Front" and "Radical Party of Oleh Liashko."

During the meetings, the members of the Government expressed the hope that over the next few days MPs would be able to get acquainted with the proposed changes and without delay, with the understanding of their responsibility to the people of Ukraine to adopt them in the near future in order to ensure the earliest possible consideration by the IMF Board of Directors of the issue on granting a loan for Ukraine.

On Tuesday, February 24, the members of the Government will meet with representatives of other factions of the coalition.
