Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructs regions' chiefs to establish hotlines to exchange information regarding possible threats

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed the heads of regional state administrations to raise awareness among citizens concerning the increased security measures and to ensure operation of hotlines to exchange information on possible threats and escalation of the situation. He said this on Friday, January 23, during the teleconference meeting with RSA heads.

He appealed to the regions’ chiefs and heads of local law enforcement agencies to carry out an explanatory work among the citizens, "to explain to people that we strengthen the security measures, that we have enough tools and resources to cope with any threat, and when people see in the street law enforcement officers, it is a sign of only one thing: the authorities control the situation and we bear full responsibility for the safety of Ukrainian citizens".

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also noted efficiency of hotlines and instructed the chiefs of the regions, "In regional TV and regional radio channels to give hotline numbers so that citizens could inform about any facts or even suspicions on possible aggravation of the situation, committing crimes, suspects, and so that we could have this information system operating the most effectively."

He informed that the relevant operational headquarters has been working within the Government. "I am in constant contact with you," said the Prime Minister to the heads of the regional state administration.

"Your task today, tomorrow, the next day and every single day is to communicate with people, to explain to the people that if in the streets they see militiamen, it means that the militia is working and we provide security. To explain to the people that they have direct connection with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and regional offices, they can phone and report. And your main objective is complete coordination of the work", accentuated Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
