Arseniy Yatsenyuk orders to double street patrols in all regions of the country

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has commissioned the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov to take a decision to increase twofold the quantity of patrols in Ukraine. The PM announced this on Friday, January 23, during a teleconference with heads of regional state administration at the Government’s House.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that after such measures had been taken in Kharkiv and Kyiv "both criminal activity and the situation with threats of terrorist attacks have decreased significantly", "Therefore, the MIA, the SSU, the National Guard, the regional state administrations - we activate the entire law enforcement block".

Besides, the Head of Government instructed the RSA heads to involve the public, employees of enterprises, institutions and organizations to intensify patrolling the streets, as is determined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Apart from that, Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed the following week the Interior Ministry would receive 350 new Toyota vehicles to use at their disposal with certain part of them intended for the new patrol service of Kyiv city.

The Prime Minister appealed to the Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov with a request also to send new patrol cars to the regions "to ensure the task of doubling patrols to be fulfilled".

Moreover, the PM instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs in synergy with the Security Service of Ukraine and the concerned local departments to appeal to private enterprises to ensure exchange of information in respect of video surveillance, "For us to have an exchange of information from all video cameras, which exist in shops, offices, in the streets. For you to form a unified database of all objects of surveillance - public and private ones".

Another commission of Arseniy Yatsenyuk was to discuss with owners of the CCTV objects how to store information for a longer period, "As a rule, such information is stored for a maximum of seven days, a minimum of 24 hours. Sometimes we have to find information of two or three weeks ago. Thus, just work with all the owners of the objects of video surveillance on a question of longer storage of the video data".
