Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations chaired by Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Poland commence

On Monday, January 19, Kiev hosted the beginning of a round of Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Ewa Kopacz. The consultations began following the talks with the Prime Minister of Poland in a narrow format.

Before the consultations, the Head of Ukrainian Government noted that "it is an event of a high political importance", "For the first time in our bilateral relations it is actually a joint meeting with participation of a significant part of officials from Poland as our friendly and brotherly country, and the Government of Ukraine".

Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed that the agenda of the process includes several issues, with the key one – the international security and Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

There will be also discussed an economic block, in particular cooperation in the energy sector.

Besides, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a humanitarian cooperation issue is to be raised. The Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Polish Government for the humanitarian aid, which Ukraine had already received.

Another issue is strengthening of cross-border cooperation, "It is functioning in here, it should be reinforced and it should enable a greater number of our citizens to take advantage of these preferences".

"We are friendly and brotherly countries, and the level of support that exists in the European Union depends on the firm and open position of our Polish friends, which we really appreciate," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
