The Government of Ukraine has repaid Eurobonds issued by the Naftogaz Ukrayiny backed by the state guarantees. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced in the Shuster LIVE program on the First National Channel on Friday, October 3.

“Yesterday we have repaid USD 1.67 in debts of the Naftogaz,” he informed.

“It is not us who took them, but we are obliged to pay them off. If not to repay debts, none will give another loan, none will even talk to you,” the Head of Government said.

According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Russia “hoped we would not pay off the debts of the Naftogaz. The PM noted that even during his meeting in New York with the US banking and investment circles a part of business representatives were sceptical regarding an opportunity to pay off the Naftogaz Eurobonds.

“The day before yesterday we have repaid every kopeck and will fulfil our commitment no matter how hard it is,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.

It should be noted at a Gov’t session on Wednesday, October 1, Arseniy Yatsenyuk declared that the Cabinet of Ministers and the Naftogaz Ukrayiny had started repayment of Eurobonds issued by the Naftogaz backed by the state guarantees. “The Government together with the Naftogaz launched a procedure of repayment Eurobonds worth USD 1 billion 670 million. The complete sum is being repaid. Trust of our foreign investors and borrowers is of extreme significance,” the Head of Government said.
