Arseniy Yatsenyuk: The following day after ratification of the Agreement with the EU the Government will take a decision on implementation of it
"Irrespective of any statements heard
from different capitals, we have only one capital - Kiev. The Government will implement
the Agreement from the first day", - said the Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk in the program "Freedom of Speech" on ICTV on
Monday, September 15.
The
Head of Government stressed that the Association Agreement with the European
Union had been signed, and "tomorrow this agreement will be ratified by
all members of the Ukrainian Parliament: "I hope that tomorrow the
constitutional majority of MPs of Ukraine vote for it to become the law. The President
will sign it".
"The Government will implement the
Agreement from the first day (after ratification – ed.)", - said Yatsenyuk
and informed that at the scheduled Cabinet’s meeting on September 17 a decision
would be adopted to implement the Agreement with the EU.
He emphasized
that the Agreement with the EU, "contains 700 pages of a reform plan”:
"We should not reinvent the wheel, it has been invented before. This
agreement has been designed for seven years. There are not just 700 pages of plain
text, but specific steps that Ukraine should take in terms of reforms".
He noted that "Russia wanted the
Agreement not to be ratified in the Parliament”: "This was the goal. And
the second was to change the text of the Agreement".
"The
text of the agreement won’t be changed. The agreement will be ratified,"
he urged.
Moreover, Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded, the
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev “announced that they expect the Ukrainian Parliament
to adopt certain particular decision to postpone implementation of the Agreement”: "I want to officially declare the position of the Government of Ukraine: none will take a decision concerning any
delays in implementation of the
Agreement. And there can
be no ambiguity in that regard”.
