Government updates prosthetics terms for people with complex and multiple amputations

The Government is updating the terms of prosthetic care for people with complex and multiple amputations. Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi announced.

"We're extending the advance payment period for prosthetics manufacturers under the state program to four months. Prosthetic care under the state program remains free for the person receiving it, and they must receive their prosthesis no later than 90 working days from the date the contract is signed," the Head of Government explained.

The changes reflect the fact that in complex cases, military personnel and civilians who have lost limbs need individually fitted prosthetics and more time for manufacturing, fitting, and adapting to them.

"In addition, we're expanding barrier-free routes in cities and communities to provide easier access between housing, urban infrastructure, and public transport. Similar routes will also be created to memorial sites. Projects will be selected based on readiness and co-financing from local budgets," Sergii Koretskyi said. "We're allocating UAH 385 million for this, drawn from funds already budgeted for investment projects."

These decisions were made following a dedicated Government meeting attended by Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Policy Tetiana Lomakina.
