European Investment Bank ready to invest into modernization of universities and vocational lyceums with use of energy saving technologies and equipment
Deputy Minister of Education
and Science, Pavlo Polyansky and representatives of
the European Investment Bank discussed the conditions of financing of a joint energy
saving project designed for Ukrainian universities.
It is assumed that
initially the project will involve 7 higher educational institutions, that have
passed necessary preparation stages and provided all the showings, demanded by
the European Investment Bank’s experts indicators. The
EIB funds will be invested into re-equipment of the buildings with energy
efficient technologies, as well as reconstruction and modernization of research
laboratories, purchase of scientific equipment and rehabilitation of university
facilities.
At this stage, energy
audit should be undertaken in the involved universities to start realization of
the project.
During the meeting the
parties also discussed an opportunity to launch similar project for vocational
schools. According to the representative of the European Investment Bank Marion
Hoenicke, such a project can be launched just after
starting the project elaborated for the universities.
