PM: It's not a conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It's a global conflict and a global threat
"This
is not a conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It’s a global
conflict, and it is a global threat.
Russia is on the dark
side. And our priority
is a key priority of the whole
world: to stop Russian aggression", stated Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk
at a press-briefing in the Ukraine
media crisis center
on Monday, July 21
"It
is Russia,
which has invaded the territory of an independent state and annexed the Crimea. It’s
Russia, which sent troops to the Crimea and sent its
agents to Donetsk and Luhansk. It’s
Russia, which supplied a lethal weapon,
artillery and financial support to terrorists led by Russia.
Russia supported them. And Russia, as a
permanent member of the United Nations, has violated international law and the UN Charter. This is a key international criminal! So, it is in our mutual
interests – in the interests of
the world - to stop this in order
to maintain peace and stability
and to restore international law and order in Europe, not
only in Eastern Ukraine",
emphasized the Prime Minister.
He
stressed Ukraine to be interested in a broad and deep international
investigation of the MH17disaster.
The
Ukraine's Prime Minister also reminded that there were the video
and photo recordings, of how the Russian anti-aircraft
missile system moved across the territory
that was completely controlled by Russian-backed bandits.
According to him, there are also pictures
of a rocket launch: "We have
intercepted telephone conversations
between the Russian-backed bandits
and the Russian FSB
agents. We have received the preliminary
evidence of the fact that MH17 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile".
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the Ukrainian military had never used surface-to-air missiles in the ATO: "The Ukrainian Defense Ministry will provide
complete information about the whereabouts of all air defense missiles."
Moreover, the PM underlined that
the terrorists themselves posted on the Internet that "they shot down a Ukrainian military
aircraft" and then they removed
this video in 30 seconds. "
"Besides, we have received
a number of statements of special
services and governments, in
which they clearly agree that
MH17 was shot down by a missile," said the Prime Minister.
"It
is absolutely clear that this system cannot be operated by an intoxicated pro-Russian bandit. It should be
well-trained agents and, as
the Ministry of Defence reported to me, in order to shoot a plane down, they
have to cooperate with other radar
systems, which are absent on the
Ukraine’s territory", the PM emphasized.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the
international investigation should get real facts, "who
shot down MH17, who
supported and provided information
to those who committed this international crime."
The
Ukraine's Prime Minister called on the Russian authorities
to respond "to all
questions that have been raised."
Russia and the Russian regime, noted Arseniy Yatsenyuk, should provide de-escalation
of the situation, "withdraw its agents, close the border, stop supporting the terrorists, adhere to international law and international obligations, and disclose all information and every proof that
they have got to get the real picture of what happened, and to investigate the tragedy most deeply and as soon as possible. "President
Putin must realize that’s enough,"
he underlined.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reported that today
31 international experts have arrived to Ukraine, including 23 experts from the
Netherlands, two - from Germany, two - from the U.S., one - from Britain, and three
representatives of the Australian Embassy.
The
President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian
Government are in constant contact with all Western partners, added the
Prime Minister.
