PM to report to Parliament on ways of balancing the budget
Ukrainian Prime
Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is
to report to the Parliament of Ukraine on the Government’s offer to balance the
state budget by the end of the current year. The PM said this at a Cabinet’s
meeting on Thursday, July 17.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that at a today's meeting, the Government of
Ukraine would consider a draft law on amendments to the State Budget for the
current year. "Today, the gap is UAH 14.5 billion.
We again need to take very difficult decisions."
"As Prime
Minister, I am ready to take personal responsibility for these difficult, but necessary
decisions for the country. I am convinced that we realize that there is no other
way. Yes, the country is at war, it is necessary to finance the army, to
restore the infrastructure, to support victims, to pay servicemen. Therefore,
we have to cut a number of social programs," underlined the Prime
Minister.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has also informed that we continue negotiations
with the International Monetary Fund: "In the framework our program of financial
stabilization, we will take all measures to balance the budget, cut social expenses,
maintain the army, prevent a default”.
“There are
grounds for Ukraine’s positive trend of economic growth from 2016”, underlined
the PM.
