Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with champions and prize-winners of Olympic Games, world and European championships
On Thursday, June
26 the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with champions and
prize-winners of Olympic Games, world and European championships.
This winter for
Ukrainian Olympic sportsmen and Ukrainian sports brought a lot of victories, Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said: “This winter brought to Ukraine a number
of victories. We were watching you, how you were raising the Ukrainian flag,
singing Ukrainian anthem and proved to the entire world – it is a strong
country with an ability to win. It encouraged us here in Kyiv”.
“You are perfectly
aware, as none else, what the strength means. Strength appears not when you
have a lot of muscles but when you have fortitude. Our country needs that. It
needs confidence in the ability to win, confidence that you are the first and
do everything right. It is how you become champions and how Ukraine will become
the champion,” the Head of Government said to the prize-winners and champions
present at the meeting.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
emphasized that victories of Ukrainian sportsmen mean both their individual
success and success of Ukraine.
The Head of
Government is convinced it is important for the sportsmen “to work with youth
by example”: “The best way to affect the health of nation is your example”.
He requested the
sportsmen: “If you can just visit a school or university. If you communicate to
people and prove by your own example that one can and must be successful and
strong, it will spread among hundreds, thousands, millions”.
“I am proud that at
the time of hardships we have strong Olympians, people who set their own
example how to win. Those people who move forward instead of demonstrating
obedience,” the Prime Minister said.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
wished to the prize-winners and champions more victories: “We wish you to win
the first, second and third prize in each sport event abroad and to see
Ukrainian national flags raised and the anthem of Ukraine sung three times”.

Government awarded commendation certificates of the Prime Minister of Ukraine
for the valuable contribution into the development and popularizing of physical
culture and sports in Ukraine, professionalism, devotion, and handed over
