Cross border operations on Transnistrian sector of Moldova performed normally

Unfounded statements from the Russian Federation on allegedly full block of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic in particular by Ukrainian border guards have become to sound more often for last time. These statements are blatantly false information and aimed to mislead the public, first of all, of the Russians on events in Ukraine and further escalation of the situation in southern regions of our state.

The State Boarder Service of Ukraine reports that the control of citizens, vehicles and cargoes at the border with Moldova within the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic is carried more strictly, but there are no obstacles or restrictions on crossing the border.

In general, the State Border Service marks a decline by 30% in passenger traffic and by 26% vehicles traffic on the frontier area with the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic compared with March of last year.

At the same time, over the period 293 persons were denied to cross the border in this sector that is by 26% higher than in March 2013. The main reasons were unconfirmed purpose of travel and the lack of adequate financial provision to stay in Ukraine.

Thus, there is no evidence that would confirm the blockade of the unrecognized republic and creation of additional restrictions on cross-border flows of people, vehicles and goods.
