V. Muntiyan: The situation on Ukrainian-Russian customs border is settled
All the
problem issues joined with crossing and customs clearance of goods on
Ukrainian-Russian customs border can be considered settled for now, according to
the Government commissioner for cooperation with the Russian Federation, CIS
countries, Eurasian economic association and other regional associations Valeriy Muntinyan.

“Presently the two sides, both Ukrainian and
Russian, operate in the working mode. At this constant monitoring of the
situation on the border is being held, so the problem can be considered
solved for now. Together with that it is necessary to work in advance in the
direction of defending the national interests aiming to prevent any economic
shocks in the future,” he considers. Besides, Valeriy Muntinyan informed
that the sides had signed a roadmap of actions to ensure effective trade cooperation
between the countries, which in particular envisaged the measures affording
to avoid repetition of the problem situations on the border. “Now the consultations are being held and we follow
the roadmap to be fulfilled clearly. To our part we stick to these understandings
and hope the Russian party will keep their liabilities,” the Government’s
commissioner stressed. To his mind, the work held in the direction of
normalization of the trade relations between Ukraine and the Russian
Federation will positively influence the volumes of trade turnover between the
states. “I consider such work gives way to start 2014 well. Unfortunately,
during 2013 we faced reduction of trade turnover with the RF by 15% but we
hope we will liquidate the disproportion in the current year,” Valeriy Muntinyan
underlined. |
