O. Vilkul: To resume power supply brigades of power engineering specialists from 5 regions have been relocated to Mykolayiv region
The activities
in resuming of power supply in 47 inhabited localities of the three regions are
being held in a 24-hour intensified mode – in Odessa (28 settlements),
Mykolayiv (10) and Kherson (9) in which power supply systems were affected by
complication of weather conditions mostly. 178 brigades of power engineering
specialists, containing 910 workers and having 349 special machinery units, have
been involved into repair activities in the mentioned regions. On the task of
the Government there were relocated to Mykolayiv region brigades of power
engineering specialists from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy and Vinnytsya
regions. The power supply in other 1558 inhabited areas facing electricity
cutoff as a result of bad weather have been resumed already. Everything possible
is being done targeting to faster resume electricity to the buildings. The Vice
Prime Minister, chairman of the State Commission for technogenic, environmental
safety and emergencies Olexandr Vilkul stressed.

Overall from the start of severe frosts and complication of weather conditions – the temperature fell to 23 degrees Celsius below zero at day and 33 degrees Celsius below zero at night, blizzards, sleet snow – 1605 inhabited localities in 17 regions suffered from blackouts. But at the account of clear coordination of work, including relocation of forces and technical means to the most troubled regions the majority of cutoffs were liquidated during 24 hours. Now the works are being held to resume traffic on motor roads where as a result of severe snow drifts and sleet the traffic was either restricted, complicated or terminated. The rescue
activities to remove cars from snow drifts are being prolonged. From the
start of severe frosts the rescuers and road workers have saved from
snow traps over 6 thousand cars in which over 11.6 thousand people were
trapped. If needed the passengers are taken to the nearest warming stations
for rendering assistance. |
To ensure stable
operation of life support systems and liquidation of the consequences of bad
weather over 28 thousand of communal workers and 3 200 units of communal
machinery work 24 hours in the regions. On a daily basis the activities in
liquidation of consequences of bad weather conditions are held on around 220
thousand kilometers and on over 90 thousand kilometers of pavements.
