During the full-scale war, Ukraine has been receiving strong support from the technology business. Google was one of the first to side with our country and continues to support Ukrainians, as well as the initiatives and projects of the Ministry of Digital Transformation. During the meeting with the Google team, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov discussed further opportunities for cooperation and joint projects.

“Google services have become our infrastructure. The tools provided by the company allowed the Government to function quickly and efficiently despite the shelling and constant threats of cyber attacks. In addition, Google ensures protection and security of Ukrainians’ data and promotes development of our entrepreneurs. On the other hand, the company pays great attention to human capital. In particular, it supports the initiatives of the Diia. Digital Education project. We are grateful to the company for such a position and support of Ukraine,” said Mykhailo Fedorov.

As part of initiatives to rebuild Ukraine, Google.org is providing a USD 2 million grant and Google.org Fellowship support for the development of digital education in Ukraine. The funds will be used to educate Ukrainians and increase digital literacy.

The Google.org foundation, which invests in organizations with innovative ideas, will contribute to development of the Diia. Digital Education national project. The project will involve specialists from the Google.org Fellowship program. In particular, product managers, software engineers, marketing specialists. The specialists will help develop personalized learning paths using elements of artificial intelligence for 6 months free of charge.

In addition, it is planned to implement a system of employment recommendations. This will contribute to the economic revival of Ukraine. It is also planned to translate the content and the platform into English. The partner of the cooperation is the Eastern Europe Foundation.

The company will also provide 50,000 Google Workspace licenses for the Government of Ukraine. During the year, government agencies will be able to use them for free. This will ensure protection and security of data, given the constant cyber threats.

“In May, we were honored to receive the first ever “Peace Prize” award introduced by President Zelenskyy for our work to support the people of Ukraine. Since then, the war has taken on new dimensions, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to being worthy of that award. We join the international community in expressing our sincere hope for a return to a peaceful and sovereign Ukraine – and will continue to look for new ways to help those whose lives have been so deeply and tragically affected,” said Kent Walker, President of Global Affairs at Google & Alphabet.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Google.org and Google employees have made million-dollar donations and grants totaling USD 45 million, another USD 5 million was allocated through the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund. Since March this year, the Fund has distributed funds to support 58 Ukrainian technology companies. Within the framework of the Laptop for Every Teacher initiative, 30,000 chromebooks out of 50,000 planned have already been transferred to educational institutions. The corporation also supported Ukraine on the cyber front by providing security tools to protect Ukrainian accounts from cyber attacks.
