The National Council on TB and HIV / AIDS shapes a detailed plan of measures to implement Ukraine's commitments as stated in the Political Declaration on the fight against TB which was approved by the High-level meeting in the framework of the 73rd UN General Assembly.

"In September of this year, for the first time in the entire period of the UN's existence, heads of state, governments and all parties concerned gathered at the high-level meeting in order to consolidate the international community in the fight against tuberculosis. The Ukrainian delegation was the most high-ranking among all delegations, as the Government today makes every effort to counteract the spread of tuberculosis, including its multidrug-resistant form," Pavlo Rozenko stressed during the meeting.

The Vice Prime Minister recalled the Political Declaration on the Fight against Tuberculosis approved at the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly which has become a roadmap for the whole world to counter tuberculosis under the auspices of the Stop TB Partnership, the World Health Organization, and the Global Fund.

"Now, the National Council and its committees with the involvement of partners are developing a detailed plan of measures to implement Ukraine's commitments as stated in the Political Declaration, as well as a multi-sectoral accountability mechanism to accelerate progress towards the elimination of tuberculosis," the Vice Prime Minister underscored.

The Vice Prime Minister also noted that in July this year, the International AIDS Society hosted the 22^nd International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam. The key issue of the Conference is to end the AIDS epidemic in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. "The official delegation of Ukraine at the conference presented the achieved results and significant progress in combating the spread of the HIV / AIDS epidemic in Ukraine and drew the attention of the world community to the urgent needs of Ukraine in the field of preventing the HIV / AIDS epidemic", Pavlo Rozenko stressed.

During the third quarter of 2018, active work was also carried out in the committees of the National Council and measures were taken to oversee the implementation of the Global Fund programs in Ukraine. In particular, a joint meeting of two committees of the National Council was held and a monitoring visit to Kharkiv region and Poltava regions was made.

Members of the National Council on TB and HIV / AIDS got acquainted with the provision of antiretroviral, anti-TB drugs and substitution maintenance therapies in region and received information on the results of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the first half of 2018, etc.
