The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved as a basis the framework draft law No. 11355 "On Integrated Prevention and Control of Industrial Pollution". The Parliament voted 245 in favour. It is drafted to implement Directive 2010/75/EU.
"This morning, it was approved at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management chaired by Oleh Bondarenko. In fact, this draft law repeats what was proposed to the Parliament in the draft law No. 6004-d "On Ensuring the Constitutional Rights of Citizens to a Safe Environment for Life and Health". This draft law and the updated reputable team of authors should put an end to the discussions around political support for the reform of prevention, reduction and control of industrial pollution," said Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
According to him, this is an extremely important reform on Ukraine's path to the EU and the implementation of the Ukraine Facility programme.
"The bill paves the way for the implementation of Directive 2010/75/EU. Once it is approved, Ukraine will have the opportunity to launch the reform that we have been working towards for more than a decade. Today, it is the call of the times and the key to Ukraine's green post-war recovery. I hope that Draft Law No. 11355 will be approved in the second reading in the coming plenary weeks! I am grateful to the MPs for their support of European environmental reforms," Ruslan Strilets emphasised.
