Grain Initiative: The 5th UN chartered vessel has left the port of Chornomorsk

Today, the NEW ISLAND bulk carrier, chartered by the World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations, has departed from the port of Chornomorsk. On board it carries 30,000 tonnes of wheat for the people of Ethiopia.

The bulker joined the caravan with two other vessels that left the ports of Odesa and Pivdenny. Together, these ships will deliver 56,600 tonnes of wheat and corn to countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.

Since the departure of the first ship with Ukrainian food, 6.4 million tonnes of agricultural products have been exported.

A total of 285 ships with food for the countries of Asia, Europe and Africa departed Ukrainian ports.

In particular, 5 vessels that were chartered by the UN WFP exported more than 150,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat to Ethiopia, Afghanistan and Yemen.
