The construction of a high-speed railway line linking Kyiv and Boryspil will be completed on time, according to previously agreed terms. This was announced by acting Chairman of the Board of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov in the course of a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

"The deadline is hard to be met, but the facility will be put into operation by December 1. The design of the station is undergoing a final approval", Acting CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia claimed.

"It is important to wind up the project by December 1 and to give passengers an alternative route to get to the airport or from the airport, via the city, to other cities of Ukraine," the Head of Government stressed.

    Background

In February of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine endorsed the plan drafted by Ukrzaliznytsya, which envisages the construction of a high-speed rail line to Boryspil airport.

The Head of Government then underlined that the statistics confirm the growth of demand for air transport services. Boryspil airport is handling over 7-8 million passengers per year. However, still passengers do not have a convenient way to get to the airport or from the airport to Kyiv. That is why the technical solution to this problem was shaped in a short time.

According to the construction project, the railway line will run from Kyiv's Central Railway Station, via the Vydubychi station to terminal D of the Boryspil airport. The trip will last for about 35 minutes.

The rolling stock to be used on the line - 11 PESA  620m trains (91 seats) and 2 PESA 630m trains (192 seats).
