Within six months, about UAH 60 million of financial assistance has been transferred to Ukrainians who moved from the TOT and were evacuated from the frontline territories.

This figure was announced during a working meeting between Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, and Alessia Schiavone, IOM Ukraine's Chief of Mission.

The parties discussed the results of the joint project of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, IOM and Ukrposhta JSC on financial assistance to Ukrainians who had left the temporarily occupied territories through the Kolotylivka - Pokrovka, Mokrany - Domanove checkpoints or from the frontline territories of Ukraine by evacuation trains and buses.

It was a one-off payment of 3,600 UAH per person. IOM provided it to passengers on evacuation routes organised by the Ministry for Reintegration from Donetsk (Pokrovsk), Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Sumy.

The assistance was distributed through the national postal operator Ukrposhta at arrival stations in Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytsky, Poltava, Odesa, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia and Volyn regions.

Since the beginning of the project (from 10 December 2023 to 25 May 2024), more than 16,000 people have received this financial assistance for a total of UAH 59.8 million.

"We understand that Ukrainians who leave the frontline areas or the TOT lose everything. It is a very difficult challenge. Therefore, our joint efforts were aimed at ensuring that they receive assistance that would allow them to meet their minimum living needs," said Alessia Schiavone.

"I am sincerely grateful to our international partners for the projects that are so necessary for Ukrainians in this difficult time. I am convinced that our cooperation in the field of humanitarian response will not only continue but will also be strengthened in the interests of Ukrainians," concluded Iryna Vereshchuk.
