Combating the COVID-19 pandemic remains one of the Government's priorities. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on July 16 from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada during the Question Time for the Government.

The Prime Minister stressed that the two main "pillars" in combating coronavirus disease are vaccination and a prepared medical system.

"Despite the relatively calm situation with COVID-19, we are still strengthening the capacity of the healthcare system. In Ukraine, additional re-equipment of medical facilities is underway, including the supply of centralized oxygen. Currently, the performance of oxygen supply is 95%. Meanwhile, hospital bed occupancy makes up about 8%," the Head of Government said.

Denys Shmyhal also noted that for the sixth week in a row we can observe a record amount of vaccinations: in the first two weeks of the month, one million vaccinations were given.

"Vaccination in Ukraine is based on three platforms. These are mobile vaccination teams (500), immunization stations (1200) and vaccination centers (more than 200). Ukraine currently has the necessary number of high-quality safe vaccines to meet the demand of all comers. In total, more than 8 million doses of vaccines are planned to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of July," the Head of Government said.

The Prime Minister called on all Ukrainians to protect themselves and their families and to receive the vaccine against COVID-19.
